Last weekend my wife had an open studio event where people wandered off the street into our garden to visit her workshop where she upholsters chairs. My son and I were front-of-house, there to signpost guests and take coffee and cake orders.
Love this Adam. Those thoughts of what behaviours and career options are we modelling to our kids really resonate with me. Plus it's a privilege to be invited behind the scenes into the Forbes household. Keep doing what you're doing!
Thanks Andy. It’s so important that we prepare them for a workplace that’s super different from what we entered. I’m not sure I thought this until recently!! Really appreciate your encouragement Andy!
I absolutely love this blog post Adam! Being a parent (in my opinion) is the most important job I will ever do, and it's forever! Likewise it has ebbs and flows and I'm not sure I ever feel very competent! You show your children a world of possibilities and encourage their creativity to flow. You and Meg are exemplary role models.
Thanks Laura! Oh yes the ebbs and flows! And I’m with you on the conscious incompetence!! But life is so different from now and our kids are so different too. Much less accepting of things we accepted. That’s probably a good thing! But the main thing I want mine to feel is they have options. And if they don’t feel they have them they know how to create them.
