Oh this has got me thinking ....another thing to factor into that lovely equation is "context" or "landscape" for the possible switch and a key part of context is "tribe".

I think that it is so much easier to make the equation stack up for a positive switch IF the wider context feels convivial and particularly if the tribe around you are endorsing and/or supporting. Sometimes thinking it is all about what is going on in your head misses this so maybe a nice big pair of context brackets around the whole equation? Makes people less hard on themselves IF push and pull is greater than habits and anxiety but they still don't switch - sometimes the landscape / timing is just not right and that is ok. x

What excellent additions MIffa...I totally agree context plays a huge role in our willingness to switch or stay put. I stayed put for a long time, long after i wanted to leave, because i had family commitments and because i believed I was still developing, but as the context for me shifted the balance shifted too.
