There’s a line in Part 5 of Corporate Escapology about maintaining your networks after you’ve left: on my last day I jotted down a hundred or so people’s email addresses – but “most hadn’t turned out to be that useful”.
Thank you for another post that resonates with me. I left my corporate job coming up for 10 years ago after an 18 year journey and still have meaningful connections with many of my former colleagues and friends from that organisation. I may have more contact with my “boss” now than I did then! 😂
That's so funny Andy - about seeing more of the boss now! I'm glad it resonated. I think for a while I felt like a path out of corporate meant I needed to turn my back a bit (never fully)...gradually I've realised that wasn't right or necessary.
Totally agree. Initially I thought I would walk away from not only my old employer but even the industry. But it just seemed to keep following me around! Eventually I realised it was still a big part of me (years of experience and network of wonderful people) and I shouldn’t abandon it but instead embrace it in a new way as I moved forward.

Exactly. Why would you walk away from that value you can create for yourself and others. Great Andy!
